Mr. “O” just visited the younglings, but the snags remained existent, and then “O” so disappeared to its characters of seeming Sequoias in societal nature. Needing roots, a trunk, and some impressive branches, I breathe to follow the day and reach for the sun.

Scribble7: Nostalgia
I just bought a new song on iTunes, and it gave me a vivid flashback of summer. I miss it so much the more I think about it. The song is As the Rush Comes by Motorcycle, and listening to it, I can’t stop imagining the backroad of Tualatin to Wilsonville. 65th and Stafford were more than streets, they were memory makers. I can sense the slightly brisk airs of my late-night travels betweens cities. I would load my ATB CD into my 2000 Toyota Camry’s stereo, turn the volume up, roll down the windows, open the sunroof, and soak up the midnight freshness flooding the car. This feeling is so symbolic to me for some reason, perhaps one of the strongest remaining senses of summer, such that I hope this next summer I can rekindle this longing.
Dell XPS Support FTW?
Yes, actually! A couple of days ago, the TV Tuner for my M1530 broke. I really thought I would have to go through the manufacturer in order to get a replacement, but, to my surprise, contacting the XPS Premium Instant Chat support, with ten minutes of my time, I got it completely replaced. I was so happy and relieved! Now… The waiting game. What do you think? Two, five, eight weeks for shipment? Let’s hope for the best!
Homeostasis
Today was one of the first days at Oregon State I’ve felt so content. I finished my Biology portfolio assignment, thinking it was due today. Turns out it’s due next Monday. I’m a little worried because, believing today was the day to turn it in, I rushed to finish it by 5PM, the usual drop-off cutoff time. I did the whole assignment from 11AM to about 3PM – no breaks in between and no distractions. Additionally, what was sketchy was that there were objectives I had to complete on the portfolio that we have not covered yet in lab and recitation, nor even in lecture. So, I was really wondering why we would be having to do things before it was even discussed. Overall, I hope my quality of work still held tough, and that they do grade quality over quantity, because that would make a huge difference.
I traveled over to Weniger 127A, the portfolio drop-off slot location, and surprisingly it was open. Now, I know some people might finish early, but I was moreover shocked, and sort of came to realization of my misdating of this due date, when I turned my portfolio in, and I heard it land in an empty box. Yes – fright all around as I thought maybe the professors just emptied it – but where were all the students? With over 1300 people taking Biology 101, I thought there would be a trickle of traffic passing through. Weniger was dead quiet besides the researchers in their laboratories dripping drops of solutions into test tubes.
Anyway, there is a pro and con to this event. I got it completely out of the way, making more time for my home visit this weekend, which is good. However, most likely being one of the first of 1300 students to turn in their portfolio is kind of daunting, especially with the balance of speed and quality I used to get the assignments done.
In end, I shouldn’t worry about it. I trust what my conscious mind justified as acceptable work as I swept through the portfolio requirements. I should make sure the utility I get from having finished it early outweighs any other objections. Moral of the story, I need to keep on top of my dates, even though there’s already a dot on every calendar square in my iPhone.
UPDATE: Lecture was this morning (Tuesday, October 28), and guess what happened?… Dr. Lesley Blair, our professor, brought up the reminder about portfolios and their due date of next Monday. She says, “In fact, we already had one turned in – I think that’s some sort of record.” I was kind of like, “Oh crap!”, but then I felt happy that I was the first, regardless of the notion I got the wrong due date and whipped the whole portfolio up in one afternoon. Hmmm… I think I’ll know better next time.
Scribble6: Midterm Essays
…Are absolutely no fun at all.
Scribble5: Cold Morning
I am still up for some reason (~3:30AM). The window is hinged ajar, and the fan clipped to the bed circulates monotonous airs in this room. There is much to do tomorrow – schoolwork to type and a portfolio to file out by 5pm Monday. I thought I would find something new soon, but maybe that plan of action will fall upon shortly… hopefully. As Barack Obama once said, “We are the change that we seek.”
