Complete Refresh

I was running into a dead end. I had lost inspiration to write or reason to update. But, with WordPress’ release of premium themes, I found this one to be a perfect fit. I have given up on custom headers – they are fun and challenging to make and be happy with the end result. But I am absolutely done. I love this new theme and I look forward to working with its featured panel. All this is a fresh, clean, complete restart for a blog that I am happy to have been kept maintaining for over two years. Here’s to many more!

Through the Washing Machine

Would you look at that! After 19 months, jhicks.org finally has a clean, new appearance – and I hope you like it! I spent a couple hours figuring this and that, fine tuning different aspects to make it most pleasing. I still feel that I have a few tweaks to make, but overall this theme change looks amazing if I may say so myself. Although my customizable header does not give me much to become creative with, the positives of the new Enterprise theme greatly outweigh any negatives. In fact, the header is the only negative I can think of – and it’s not even that bad.

I now have more presentation space – a wider area of white for my text and images to sprawl across without limitations. Also, I can customize the background with any color or image I desire. My widgets are unchanged and still neatly organized and displayed on the right – and now I even have options to put widgets in a multiple-column footer. Everything just seems to have worked out great. I also look to update my resumé soon as it is outdated at the moment.

OK… So now that I have this blog update out of the way, I can focus on two things: first being sleep, second being all the homework I have this week. No more putting it off, John. You had a great weekend. Now let your academics have as much fun! Bleh! On my birthday too! All the work I have to do reminds me of a sad story in fourth grade. Being still in elementary school, you would think that homework was not such a time-consumer for kiddos my age. However, that night I remember having so much homework and sitting at our old, wooden table – I had tears running down my cheeks because it was 10pm on my birthday and I’m doing homework and my loving parents are sitting to my left and right and presents and cake were right in front of me… And I cried and couldn’t see clearly through the tears as my parents told me to put down the pencil and enjoy my birthday…

Hmm… Still tough to think about that even to this day. Anyway, off to sleep and to another bright day.

See ya, friends.

The Time Has Come

It’s official, my friends. I am shutting down The Things I Say forever. It’s bittersweet to see it go – it started as a medium for venting my thoughts and feelings, but then it transitioned into a way to express myself and to feel connected to my friends and the world by means of blogging. I am also considering disabling my Facebook account for I have no use for it anymore – but that idea is still up in the air. But at the end of all this, there is one thing I’d like my readers to know… Continue reading

F5: Title, Header, Avatar Changes

Hey! So I’ve been thinking about changing this site’s blog name – jBlog is way too widely used and I want something that will show up higher on search engines. So, I chose Craziosity, a mix of curiosity and crazy, because the .com domain name is not taken if I so choose to pay for that. But I’m still not 100-percent sure if I’m satisfied with the name.

Anyway, I can think about that later. The other big change is the header which, as you know, I am always modifying. I’m even more content with this one than the previous version. Can you guess what the background image is…?

And one final tweak that is still tweaking with my mind is the website avatar – the little logo that represents the site and is next to the name if you bookmark it. It appears fine on my bookmark bar, but on the Chrome tab it gets a little spliced. I’m just too picky…

Heh, see ‘ya round.
